Two different shows bring pop-culture extravaganzas to the metro area this weekend.
OKC’s Pop Culture Con, set for Remington Park, brings an assortment of actors, wrestlers and sports figures in town for the weekend for autographs, photo ops and more.
Meanwhile SoonerCon 30, slated for Norman’s Embassy Suites, offers authors, actors (including anime voice actors), cosplayers and more.
Both shows feature a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger – Jason David Frank is slated for the Pop Culture Con, while Johnny Yong Bosch is slated for SoonerCon.
Star Trek guru Larry Nemecek will settle in at SoonerCon; wrestlers Sgt. Slaughter and Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake will be strutting their stuff at OKC’s Pop Culture Con.
Rather than tickets, SoonerCon sells memberships, which will be $79 at the door on Friday; $59 on Saturday and $39 on Sunday. For more information on SoonerCon, go to soonercon.com.
OKC Pop Culture Con has a variety of passes, VIP Packages and signature options available; a Saturday/Sunday pass is available for $30 at okcpop.com.
Either way you choose to go, the crowded convention weekend is a reminder that the comic-con scene in the OKC metro is gearing back up in a major way.
