Local Comic Shop Day has been announced for 2022, for a Wednesday, Nov. 23

Local Comic Shop Day is an eight-year-old event conceived and implemented by ComicsPRO comic book specialty retailers to call attention to locally owned independent comic-book stores.

Marco Davanzo, Executive Director of ComicsPRO – the organization of comic-book retailers that runs Local Comic Shop Day — says the goal of the day is to drive traffic to local comic stores during the holiday season.

The annual event celebrates the independent spirit of local comic book shops.

“Technically, retailers don’t need to register to order the local comic shop day items, ” Davanzo said in a release. “But we recommend that all retailers register so that they can be reminded when to order, will get help in marketing, and will be able to get special deals from LCSD partners.”

Additionally, customers will be able to find registered retailers via a map on the ComicsPRO website. Retailers can register at http://www.comicspro.org/lcsd2022.

Marvel Comics has announced two special covers for Local Comic Shop Day.

In honor of the 60th Anniversary of Spider-Man, Local Comic Shop Day covers by Francesco Mobili will be featured on November’s “Amazing Spider-Man” #13 and “Spider-Man” #2.

Also, Z2 Comics has announced two special editions for Local Comic Shop Day, featuring popular musicians being featured in comic-book tales.

Z2 will be releasing two graphic novels with covers just for the day – Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes will feature a Jason Levesque cover exclusive and The Illustrated Al: The Songs of “Weird Al” Yankovic will have a Mark Fredrickson cover exclusive.

The “Little Earthquakes” graphic novel features 24 stories inspired by the 12 songs on the album, plus the 12 ‘B-sides’ that accompanied the album and its associated singles. Authors include Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood.

“The Illustrated Al: The Songs of ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic” features cartoonists adapting Al’s songs. Artists include Bill Plympton, Peter Bagge, Danny Hellman, Michael Kupperman and many more!
